Testimonials

In my role, I have the opportunity to work with and observe AMAPCEO’s allies and their leaders. Over the past few years, I’ve had the pleasure to work with and observe one of your own, Sean O’Reilly. As an Executive Coach, I can tell you that he immediately caught my eye as a future leader of your organization. I’ve seen him very capably present policies and budgets, and very efficiently and fairly officiate your AGM. Sean’s strength of character and integrity are reflected in the respect and trust your activist base affords him. In my opinion, Sean is a future leader of PIPSC, and I must say as a friend of PIPSC, that I strongly recommend you support him. Putting Sean in a place of greater contribution now, where his skills and attributes can help you immediately, and where he can continue to learn and grow for the future would be a wise decision.

Dave Bulmer, President/CEO, AMAPCEO – Ontario’s Professional Employees

I had the opportunity to work with Sean on the Workplace 2.0 file and then the GCWorkplace file. Sean is a pleasure to work with. I was impressed with his detailed knowledge of this complex and ever-changing file as well as the way he expertly led the last Annual General Assembly of the Institute. I am confident that Sean will have the interests of the membership at heart as Vice President and that he will always show respect for all the people he works with. “This endorsement of candidate(s) in no way implies any endorsement of the candidate(s) by any Institute body, the Institute as a corporate body, or by the employees of the Institute.”

I have known Sean O’Reilly for near five years.  He is a very optimistic and warm-hearted and energetic person, who always provided me the professional answers to my questions on the workplace and pay issues and government benefits, and so on.  I was always impressed by his vision and passion when he had a talk or discussion in person or online with me and other colleagues in my team. He has the approachable leadership and I believe he is capable of taking more responsibilities in PIPSC with many years of working with PIPSC and his deep understanding to union issues. “This endorsement of candidate(s) in no way implies any endorsement of the candidate(s) by any Institute body, the Institute as a corporate body, or by the employees of the Institute.”

I’ve known Sean for many years and had the opportunity to work with him on several projects, he is committed to making the union work for all members, and approaches issues with fairness and a view to finding a solution that accommodates everyone’s needs. “This endorsement of candidate(s) in no way implies any endorsement of the candidate(s) by any Institute body, the Institute as a corporate body, or by the employees of the Institute.”

Sean has worn multiple hats that have allowed him to gain understanding and experience on issues that are common across many Groups as well as those specific to his own Department. He dedication to helping members, stewards and consultation presidents wade through the forever changing physical workplace has been invaluable over the last several years. It is important to have elected representatives that are willing to not only listen but understand the challenges we face in representing members, especially at a consultation table. Sean has always made himself available to work through challenges I have brought forward as an a steward whether it be as an applied scientist or a steward sitting at a consultation table .Sean definitely represents Better Together. “This endorsement of candidate(s) in no way implies any endorsement of the candidate(s) by any Institute body, the Institute as a corporate body, or by the employees of the Institute.”

Karen Hall, Steward, Transport Canada, BC/Yukon Region

I first met Sean across the table at a CS Group national executive meeting. It was early in his government career and as a union activist. What immediately struck me was his ability to contribute and participate at the national level from the very start. There was no hesitation, just an eagerness and full knowledge that he was there to represent the interest of the members who elected him. And what he brought to the table was genuine: a desire to help our members and to make a difference. Sean took on various responsibilities and he always did them well. It is not surprising that Sean moved on to other roles in our union seeking to support the needs of all members in PIPSC.  Whether sitting as Director on the Board, acting as Vice-president, consulting with senior management nationally at Shared Services Canada or working on special projects such as GC Workplace, Sean has been focused and dedicated to the interest of his members. I sincerely believe that Sean O’Reilly is a true believer, an activist who is there for his union for all the right reasons. “This endorsement of candidate(s) in no way implies any endorsement of the candidate(s) by any Institute body, the Institute as a corporate body, or by the employees of the Institute.”

Over the past decade, I have gotten to know Sean O’Reilly in a variety of roles throughout the Institute. Sean was the former chair of the Young Professionals at PIPSC. Sean has always been supportive of the Young Professionals events and has assisted me in the planning and execution of Young Professionals Events. With Sean’s guidance and support, the young professional events in the NCR were considered an immense success. I feel that given Sean’s experience in a variety of leadership roles he would make an excellent choice as Vice President of PIPSC. We have seen his professionalism on display chairing the National AGM (a thankless and difficult task), as a previous Vice President, as a steward and as a member on a variety of executives. Sean is also an alumni member of the Governor General’s Canadian Leadership Conference . Sean has always made time for me when necessary and is someone I consider as a colleague, friend and mentor. Sean, you have my support, wishing you the best of luck. “This endorsement of candidate(s) in no way implies any endorsement of the candidate(s) by any Institute body, the Institute as a corporate body, or by the employees of the Institute.”

Andrew Wigmore, Administrative Tribunals Support Service of Canada, Ottawa, ON

I endorse Sean O’Reilly for election as Full Time Vice President in the PIPSC National elections.  He has shown that he is very professional, collaborative and I recommend that members give their vote to Sean O’Reilly for Vice President Full Time. “This endorsement of candidate(s) in no way implies any endorsement of the candidate(s) by any Institute body, the Institute as a corporate body, or by the employees of the Institute.”

Stacy McLaren, Steward, Kanata, ON

I have known Sean O’Reilly for over 20 years as we both started our Public Service careers at PWGSC.   When I think of Sean, qualities such as conviction, integrity, passion, patriotism, stewardship and leadership come top to mind. Sean has always strived to better the lives of members through his various roles in the union, from Steward to VP.  He never hesitates to speak passionately about the value of the public service and the roles of individual members.  He is quick to defend and promote those under his direction and holds not only others, but especially himself, to high moral and ethical standards.  I value Sean as a colleague, a friend, and more importantly, as a person that commits himself to the ideals he believes in.  “This endorsement of candidate(s) in no way implies any endorsement of the candidate(s) by any Institute body, the Institute as a corporate body, or by the employees of the Institute.

One of the highlights of being deeply involved over the past seven years is meeting some outstanding individuals in PIPSC.  Sean O’Reilly is one of those outstanding individuals. Not only is Sean committed to the labour movement, he is a vocal advocate for what is right and ethical.  In all of his past roles, such as NCR Director or Chair of our National AGMs, he has demonstrated the highest levels of professionalism, fairness, compassion and a good dose of humour.  All the necessary ingredients for an excellent Vice-President.  I know Sean will not let us down. Without any hesitation, I fully endorse Sean and strongly encourage all members to vote for him as our next Full-Time Vice-President. “This endorsement of candidate(s) in no way implies any endorsement of the candidate(s) by any Institute body, the Institute as a corporate body, or by the employees of the Institute.

Robert K. MacDonald, B.A., MRM, Steward, BC/Yukon Region

I have worked closely with Sean O’Reilly since I returned to the Institute in 2014.  He is deft at handling difficult situations and helping members deal with them.  A strong advocate for members rights he works hard to ensure that the employer respects those rights.  He knows that diverse opinions need to be considered before decisions are made and he is adept at making sure that many voices are heard so that we arrive at decisions that are well considered.  As a former president, I know how difficult that can be. He has my vote for Full-Time Vice-President, and I hope that you will consider giving him yours as well. “This endorsement of candidate(s) in no way implies any endorsement of the candidate(s) by any Institute body, the Institute as a corporate body, or by the employees of the Institute.
